Representing 80% of the world's concrete industry outside of China, our mission is to position concrete to meet the world’s needs for a material that can build and support growing, modern, sustainable and resilient communities.
As the most widely used material on earth after water, concrete is fundamental in shaping our world. That’s because of its inherent benefits of strength, durability, resilience, safety and affordability to create vital infrastructure – roads and railways, homes, offices and the cites we live in.
Our 2050 Net Zero Roadmap sets out in detail how collectively, in collaboration with built environment stakeholders and policymakers, we will fully decarbonise the cement and concrete industry and provide net zero concrete for the world.
Innovation is a key part of the cement and concrete industry's journey to net zero and is a key part of our 2050 Roadmap. Innovandi, the GCCA's innovation arm runs two key programmes to accelerate and unlock new technology that will be key in our sustainability journey.
ESG is all about integrating the key principle of sustainability (people, planet, and profit) into day-to-day business. GCCA’s Sustainability Charter shapes the GCCA’s ESG agenda, which covers all aspects of non-financial factors that help the cement and concrete sector to identify its key material risks and discover potential growth opportunities. GCCA aims to provide all the required resources to its members to drive the sustainability agenda through the development of guidance and good practices sharing.
Public policy will play a central role in the ability of the industry and the wider value chain to decarbonise cement and concrete over their lifecycle.
