In January 2020, Saipem S.p.A acquired CO₂ capture technology from CO₂ Solutions Inc., Canada. The technology is based on a novel enzymatic CO₂ capture process with zero emission of toxic products. It is certified by credible third parties and has attained commercial status- TRL 8 with a demonstrated scale of processing 30 tons of CO₂ per day. In addition, Saipem has also acquired the CO₂ capture plant in Saint-Flicien, Qubec and the intellectual property portfolio.
