This event will take place on Zoom.

About the event

It is reported (UNEP 2019) that cement industry (raw materials and fuel, excluding coal) could contribute approximately 10.5% of all anthropogenic mercury emissions to air. However, emissions are highly variable depending on the fuels and raw materials used to make cement. The industry has considerable experience in preventing and minimising the input of mercury to and controlling releases from kilns.

This workshop will introduce members to the new GCCA guidance in measuring, controlling and reducing mercury emissions from cement manufacturing, update members on the status of the UNEP Partnership GCCA is leading, and outline future work – especially the refinement of mercury inventories.
