Clinker manufacturing is an energy consuming process. Therefore, JK Cement is constantly upgrading its technology to improve its energy efficiency in line with its 2030 energy efficiency goal, cutting its carbon emissions by approximately 22% till 2030 from 2020 level as per its SBTi commitment.
With a focus to be an energy efficient plant, its Line No.3 of Nimbahera (Raj) was upgraded recently by replacing the old four stage preheater (SCL) with a modern 6 stage preheater (ILC), replacing VRM to Horizontal Roller Press for Raw Meal Grinding, replacing old Ball Mill to VRM for coal & Pet coke grinding and replacing reciprocating compressors (Water Cooled) to Screw Compressors (Air Cooled).
Key benefits of the upgrade include reduction of Specific Heat Consumption from 740 to 720 Kcal/Kg of Clinker, reduction of Specific Power Consumption from 69 to 52 KWh/T of Clinker and reduction of CO2 emission by 39395 T/Year.
