Maehyangri Peace Memorial - GIilyoung Pyo
Description:
Maehyang-ri Peace Memorial in Hwaseong, Korea, stands on the former Koon-ni bombing range, created to remember decades of military drills and to share a message of peace and healing. Designed by Swiss architect Mario Botta with HnSa Architects, its concrete volumes are shaped to hold silence and light‚ turning a heavy material into a calm vessel for memory. I photographed the stacked circular ramps as a single sculptural gesture, where curves and shadows reveal concrete's precision, weight, and quiet beauty. Hwaseong-si, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea
